This is what the rudder looked like when I started. The lower half was laminated with fiberglass using polyester resin. Normally, this wouldn't hold up bery long, but whoever did the job took the extra stem of stapling the glass to the mahogany core before laminating. This step graetly improved the hold of the glass on the rudder, and it only lifted in the flatter areas of the rudder.

The worst areas have been ground off of the lower section, and the top (which was originally varnished)has been sanded.
